Personality Topics/ a visual project.
There is plenty of research out in the world about expressiveness, trait theories and characteristic adaptations. In my visual project for Personality Topics I wanted to take a look at a real face expressing the Big 5 theory- Openness, Conscientiousness, Extroversion, Agreeableness and Neuroticism. It was harder than it seemed; I think one has to be particularly extroverted to express on a dime. Choosing what are the most important describing words to mimic is also a task. What are the most valued and most infamous emotions and traits? For my visual project I used model Bronywn Nettles, a former Fairhaven College graduate, performer, dancer and massage therapist. She did a great job trying on any attitude I threw at her and while there is clearly an actress quality to her expressive faces, she dug in and pulled up all the recognizable smirks, shrugs, grins and demureness needed. We are absolute expressive beings and this project will have me pondering just how individuation and circumstance plays a role in personality and in expressive behavior for a very, very long time.
